This trail passes through one of the best areas for elk viewing. Equestrian users can connect from Central Staging Area to the Blackfoot Trail in the north of the park.

In winter, the trail is shared equestrian and cross-country skiing. It is normally set with one track.
During early February, the trail is set with two tracks for the Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival and equestrian use is not permitted.
