Details:A small segment of pathway will be temporarily closed to accommodate the Elkwood Water Investigation in the month of October. Peter Lougheed Provincial Park will remain open during construction. While work is being completed, construction noise may be heard in nearby areas, and short distance detours can be expected. We recognize this may be inconvenient for visitors; however, it is necessary to ensure public safety.

All three campgrounds are accessible using a temporary detour route that begins at the bridge over the Kananaskis River, approximately 500 metres west of Point Backcountry Campground. Details: The bridge just beyond the parking lot that provides access to this trail has been washed out.
Forks Backcountry Campground is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, 50 km south of Hwy. 1 on Hwy. 40 and south on Kananaskis Lakes Trail. The closest access is at North Interlakes Day Use Area. It is 7.3 km from the trailhead via Upper Kananaskis Lake Circuit/Three Isle Lake Trail. Twenty tent sites are nestled in the forest at this lovely creek-side campground. There are pit/vault toilets, firepits with firewood provided, and secure food storage lockers.
This trail is 7.3 km one way with 100 meters of elevation gain and is rated easy.
Note: Please note that it is illegal to remove, deface, injure or destroy trees. Using dead wood lying on the ground for firewood is also prohibited.
