Fifty per cent of the targets for the 10 Natural Landscape Types that make up the Mixedgrass Subregion
have been achieved. However, there is still no representation for 2 of the themes.
The glacial lakebed Natural Landscape Type represents some of the best agricultural land in Alberta.
It has proven difficult to find representative landscapes that have not been cultivated (as is the case
with other Subregions in the Parkland and Grassland Natural Regions.)
With the exception of glacial lakebed and valley floor/stream, most of the
Natural Landscape Types that make up the Dry Mixedgrass Subregion are moderately
well represented in the parks system.
Foothills Fescue is the second most poorly represented Subregion in the parks system.
Only 3 of the 9 Natural Landscape Types that define the landscape have good representation.
Just over 30% of the Natural Landscape Type targets have been achieved.
There is good representation of 5 of the 11 Natural Landscape Types that define the
Northern Fescue Subregion.ion. However, there is poor representation of six other themes.
Six other Natural Landscape Types are poorly represented. Just over 40% of the Natural Landscape Type
targets have been achieved.
