One of Alberta’s original provincial parks Gooseberry Lake has provided 80 years of lakeside recreation. While you're visiting the park, explore the many trails on foot or by bike. Enjoy shade from trees planted by volunteers when the park was first developed in the 1930s. The lake is naturally aging into a wetland and now park visitors can cool off in the recently added spray park. Take the kids to the spray park or explore on trails for hiking or mountain biking. This is an excellent place to see waterfowl and shorebirds, including the threatened species, piping plover. Dark skies make for amazing star gazing, especially in spring and fall.
This park is located near the Village of Consort. It is different than Gooseberry Provincial Recreation Area which is located near Kananaskis Country, along Highway 66.
