Learn to Cross Country Ski

The best way to get kids outside in the winter is...to take them.  Let Alberta Parks take your students outside while learning a lifelong activity like cross country skiing (classic).  Our learn-to-ski program is delivered right on our Learning Center grounds within the townsite.  The close proximity to the Learning Center ensures an area to warm up as we cycle through as many groups as necessary (up to 10 at one time).  Often, we recruit additional coaches from the Nordic Society to help if we need!  All students will:

  • learn about equipment and think about appropriate layering for outdoor activities
  • proceed through a "leveling up" approach with fundamental skills to make for an enjoyable experience
  • head to the local trails as quickly as possible to connect with the joy of winter exploration and the gliding freedom that skiing presents

This program is a great compliment for a full winter activity day at the Learning Center or an option for students who choose not to downhill ski at Hidden Valley but still want to otherwise join in the school trip!
