Ski for Light 2025

A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley. Ice Safety: Alberta Parks does not monitor ice conditions; learn how to assess them for yourself.

Ski for Light: The event is designed and executed for blind and visually impaired skiers and their guides. The event is held annually to create access to skiing for blind and visually impaired people and enhance their quality of life. Skiers and their guides will participate in skiing for the first few days as well as have opportunity to take ski lessons. The week wraps up with a competition on Thursday February 6th.

Facilities in use:
-Banquet Room - Lunch Room 
-Meeting Room A - Dog Handler Room 
-Meeting Room B - Activity Room 

*Please note* - Service Dogs will be present for the week of the event however, they will not be on the groomed ski trails. 

Dates & Times:
Monday Feb 3rd - Recreational skiing / lessons 
Tuesday Feb 4th - Recreational skiing / lessons 
Wednesday Feb 5th - Official Training (1:00PM-3:00PM)
Thursday Feb 6th - Race Day (1:00PM-3:30PM)
Friday Feb 7th - Recreational skiing / lessons 
Exclusive use on the above bolded dates and times:
-Biathlon Stadium
-Lillehammer
-Banff Loop
-Lynx will be closed

Skiers & their guides will be out skiing from Monday February 03 - Friday February 7th. Guides will be visible with a high vis vest. Please note there will be extra track-setting across the groomed ski trails to accommodate the groups visit.
