Details:

The left side of Graceland rock climbing area at Grassi Lakes is closed to minimize disturbances to an owl nesting site. This includes the following routes:

  • You Ain't Nothing but a Hang Dog
  • Memphis
  • It’s Now or Never

If you come across wildlife, remember to:

  • Give them plenty of space – at least 30 metres/100 feet (3 bus lengths).
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Keep your pet on a leash.
  • Do not feed wildlife.

Details:

Numerous black bears, including a black bear sow and cubs-of-the-year, have been seen in the area on and in close proximity to the trails.

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

  • Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
  • Keep your pet on a leash.
  • Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible and know how to use it.
  • Secure attractants like food, garbage, pet food and any scented items in hard sided vehicles or bear proof lockers.
  • Learn more about bear safety.

Developed to host the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park (CNCPP) is one of the best places on earth for cross-country skiing. In summer, the CNCPP is a popular mountain biking and trail running destination. Visitors come to the CNCPP from across Canada and around the world to enjoy the extensive recreational and competitive ski and mountain biking trails, participate in and spectate at world class winter and summer events. Year-round facilities and services include a Visitor Information Centre, a Café, and a rental and retail store.
