Let’s Hike: Guided Option

Ice Safety: Alberta Parks does not monitor ice conditions; learn how to assess them for yourself.

    Would you like one of our educators to take you on our trails and guide your class on a fun topic? Then this might be just for you. Depending upon your grade and/or topic preference we have the following options available:

    • Grade 4 – Let’s Go Hiking: The Wide World of Plants – on this hike we look at and discuss the variety of plants that make Miquelon home, what makes them different based upon their physical structures and their importance to life. Approx 1.6km distance.
    • Grade 5 – Let’s Go Hiking: The Wide World of Flying Creatures – On this hike we will look at and discuss the huge variety of flying creatures that make Miquelon home, different styles of animal flight and the adaptations birds have that allow them to fly. Approx 1.5km distance.
    • Grade 6 – Let’s Go Hiking: Ecosystem Engineers – On this hike we will search for and discuss ways in which animals interact with and change their ecosystems to meet their needs, how to recognize animal signs in an ecosystem, and how the topography of the landscape will alter the conditions of an ecosystem. Approx 3.3km distance.

Note:

Hiking Difficulty: 1.5-3.3km depending upon route. Hiking routes are on unpaved grass or gravel trails with some hills.

Program time: 1-1.5 hours depending upon route and speed of walking.
