The trailhead is near the parking lot by the Rodeo Grounds. The trail follows an abandoned road, meandering through woodland and open fields to meet with Bull Trail Road. Across the road, it ends at Spruce Coulee Campground. This is a good route for an overnight hike as toilets, firepits, drinking water, a picnic shelter and tenting sites are available the campground. Spruce Coulee Trail is recommended for experienced mountain bikers.

In winter, the Spruce Coulee Trail is groomed to the Highline/Rodeo Trail intersection for cross-country skiing.
