Details: Winterization of water services for campgrounds, standpipes, flush toilets, and showers will begin September 21, 2026. Year-round water, flush toilets, and showers are available at the Lakeview Shower House, located at the entrance to Lakeview Campground. Water to campgrounds, standpipes, flush toilets, and showers is not guaranteed or charged between September 14, 2026, and June 1, 2027.

Features

Situated on the shore of the Spruce Coulee Reservoir, this hut offers beautiful scenery at your doorstep, access to hiking, biking trails, fishing, stargazing, and wildlife viewing.

This hut can accommodate 6 people with two bedrooms and a sitting/eating area. There is no lighting or electrical outlets, but there is a wood stove for cozy winter nights. There are outhouses in the campground. The hut is approx. 14km east of the Elkwater town site and 200m from the Spruce Coulee campground.

There is no vehicle access to Spruce Coulee Hut from the parking area. Summer Access - Parking is available in the Spruce Coulee Campground parking lot and the hut is located approximately 200m walk from the parking area. Winter Access – Parking is available at the Reesor Viewpoint, approximately 4.5km by ski or snowshoe.

Wagon (summer) or sled (winer) to haul gear in from parking area

Rules

Payment and check-in/check-out is at the Visitor Centre.
Check-in time is 4:00 pm. Early check-in is not guaranteed.
Check-out time is 12:00 noon. Late check-out is not available.
Late Arrivals: If you are arriving after our hours of operation, please call ahead to the Visitor Centre to make special arrangements to access your comfort camping unit.
Cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to check-in time. Cancellations may only be done by contacting the Reservation Line at 1-877-537-2757 or online at Shop.AlbertaParks.ca
Pets are not allowed in or around the buildings (with the exception of service dogs).
Smoking and/or vaping of tobacco and cannabis is strictly prohibited inside the buildings.
