Come play in the South Canadian Rocky Mountains! Castle Provincial Park protects more than 25,500 hectares of rugged wilderness and over 200 rare species of plants and animals. Located southwest of Pincher Creek, the park lies at the heart of the wild Castle region, a critical link in the international Crown of the Continent ecosystem.
Castle Provincial Park offers adventure enthusiasts plenty of activities to keep busy all year round. From hiking, scrambling, paddling, fishing, biking, OHV riding, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, horseback riding, hunting and camping, there is something for everyone! The park offers individual camping, backcountry camping, comfort camping, and group camping with both reservable and first come, first served options depending on the campground. Visitors can join free interpretive programs that are offered all summer long.
Castle Provincial Park and the surrounding landscape support an abundance of wildlife, including moose, deer, elk, and carnivores such as cougars, black bears, and grizzly bears. Visitors should always recreate responsibly by carrying bear spray, knowing how to use it, and keeping all sites clean and attractant-free.
Castle Tree Cutting Permits are issued by Alberta Forestry and Parks staff, Mon - Fri from 8:15 to 4:30. (offices are closed from 12 to 1 p.m.). Tree cutting is not permitted within the Syncline Trail Network or within 100 meters of a waterbody anywhere in Castle Provincial Park.
