Advisories

Advisories

Due to recent snowfall, trails may be wet, snowy, icy, and slippery. Please use caution.

CURRENT CLOSURES: Construction of the Bow Valley Fireguard started within the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park on August 18th. This work involves mechanical tree removal and forest thinning with log hauling through the park. To ensure the safety of visitors around work areas and haul roads, many of the upper trails will be closed during this time.

The Odyssey Trail will remain open but has two road crossings where trail users will have to use caution, and cyclists will have to dismount.

Closed August 18 – mid-October: Banff Trail (partial closure), EKG East, Eye Dropper, Hey McLeod, Iliad, Laundry Chutes, Lower Laundry Chutes, Mad Handler, Rundle Connector, Sherwood Forest, Stadium Flow Trail, Swamp.

Closed August 18 – Spring 2026: Backdoor, Nector Noodle, Killer Bees, The Albertan, Ziggy’s

Closed October 14 - October 21: Get In and Get Out Trails: Snow being moved for Frozen Thunder, please stay off these trails

Public Wax Rooms are closed for the season.

For all emergencies on trail please dial 9-1-1 & report that you're in Kananaskis Country at the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park.

Please report any carnivore sightings (bears, wolves, cougars) to Kananaskis Emergency Services by calling (403) 591-7755.

Bear warning in effect as of June 26, 2025 and remains in place due to many recent sightings. We recommend carrying bear spray year-round.

Please Do Not Litter (cigarette butts, poop bags and banana peels or apple cores are littering) and help us to keep this site free of garbage. Improper disposal of garbage and waste has the potential to draw wildlife and can force area closures.

Practice leave no trace and pack out what you bring in. If a bear-proof garbage bin is FULL, please take your garbage home or use another bin.
