Winagami Lake Provincial Park includes the lake, south and west shore lands and a number of small islands. The mixed forests and wetlands of the park attract many species of birds, with over 150 different species recorded. Wood warblers are particularly abundant, with 15 species known to nest in the park. The lake is a major staging area for migrating waterfowl. Colonies of both western grebe and Franklin's gull nest on the lake.
