Cataract Creek Snowmobile

A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley.

    Apr 28th: Snow is thinning and the season is almost done for the year. Updated technical weather and precipitation data is published by Alberta Environment. Note that on the tables and graphs at the link, 1 mm of water is equivalent to 1 cm of powder snow in cool conditions.

    Daily avalanche forecasts can be found on the Avalanche Canada website. 

     

     

    Annual Road Closures:

    HWY #532: Closed Dec 1st - Apr 30th, between Highway #22 and Highway #940.

    Forestry Trunk Road/HWY #940: Closed Dec 1st - Apr 30th, south of Cataract Creek and northwest of Plateau Mountain Road.

    Notes:

    • Cataract Creek Snow Vehicle PLUZ is open for snowmobile traffic from Dec 1st - Apr 30th.
    • The southern portion of this system is prone to large snow drifts and ice flows are possible.
