Before you make that pie, you may want to come along on this guided walk to learn more about edible plants in Alberta. The Earth has more than 80,000 species of edible plants and you don't want to nibble the wrong ones!

      • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
      • Please be dressed for the weather and insects
      • Arrive at least 5 minutes early to get a spot!

    • Whether you're a budding artist or have been painting petals for years, now is your chance to delve into the world of painting alongside Mother Nature.  After a quick lesson in using watercolours, grab some supplies and wander off to a picture perfect spot among the trees.  When you've finished with your masterpiece, take it home to frame!

    • Join invasive species specialist Jay Byer of the Alberta Invasive Species Council to learn the difference between native, invasive, alien and noxious plant and wildlife species.  How did goldfish end up in our storm ponds?  Why are zebra mussels such a threat to our recreational lakes?  Is Canada thistle really Canadian?  Meet in the Aspen Room for a quick presentation before heading out on the trails to identify some invasive plant species for yourself!

    • Are you the last person to crawl into the tent at night?  If you're a night owl and think you have the night-vision to prove it, join interpreter Ryan for a late night stroll through Miquelon. Learn about other animals that stay up late and the cool adaptations they have to survive under the cover of darkness.  Look to the skies for bats, listen for hooting owls, and see what insects will be drawn to the light.

      • Approximate one-hour walk

    • Are you the first person to step out of the camper or tent in the morning?  You aren't alone.  Most of the wildlife that calls Miquelon home are also up at the crack of dawn.  Enjoy your breakfast then join an interpreter for a morning walk to see who else enjoys the morning sun as much as you.  Listen for hooting owls and the hoof-steps of deer as you commune with nature.

Along the way, she'll meet owls, hawks and eagles - all of which will teach Eya what makes birds of prey like her special.
