    Safety Ambassadors

    Safety Ambassadors provide safety supervision and water education for Sikome Aquatic Facility visitors.  Their role is to create a positive experience by monitoring visitor activity, providing information about facility rules and regulations and providing assistance in the event of water and first aid emergencies.  While the Sikome Aquatic Facility is promoted as a “non lifeguarded facility”, Safety Ambassadors are Lifeguards and have either National Lifeguard – Pool or National Lifeguard – Waterfront  certification.

    Safety Ambassador Role

    The role to provide exceptional customer service that is safety focused. While monitoring the waterfront and visitor activity, Safety Ambassadors provide assistance in the event of water and first aid emergencies.  Safety Ambassadors also proactively provide water safety education to visitors and ensure compliance with conditions of use and supervision requirements to ensure all visitors have an enjoyable recreational outing.

    Safety Ambassador Crew Lead Role

    The Safety Ambassador Crew Lead is a leadership position that directly supervises a team of Safety Ambassadors.  The Lead position works alongside their team while providing field level coaching and mentoring to ensure adherence to policy, procedure and occupational health and safety plans.  Leads also focus on daily operations including higher level administrative and leadership tasks, such as scheduling, staff training, time entry and approvals, statistical and incident reporting etc.

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications for these roles are:

    Safety Ambassadors

    • High school diploma and a minimum of 12 months lifeguarding experience

    Safety Ambassador Crew Lead

    • High school diploma and a minimum of 24 months lifeguarding experience
    • 1 or more years of related supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a waterfront/pool environment

    Both Safety Ambassadors and Safety Ambassador Crew Leads are required to have:

    • National Lifeguard-Pool or National Lifeguard-Waterfront Certification (current within 2 years)
    • Standard or Advanced First Aid and CPR-C/AED or CPR-HCP/AED (current within 2 years)

    These positions are required to work evenings, weekends and holidays throughout the summer.  Scheduled shifts could be up to 10 hours in length.
