Caretaker - Role
Caretaker staff play an important role in maintaining the high standards of park facilities and grounds, especially during the busy tourist seasons.
More specifically, these positions may perform tasks such as:
- Daily cleaning of all park buildings, facilities, and amenities within the park; including disinfecting, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, washing, and filling necessities
- Cleaning cabin units between guest occupancy
- Collection and disposal of garbage & recycling and minor maintenance of bins
- Regularly inspection and upkeep of fleet vehicles
- Upkeep and inspect staff workspaces
- Support the broader park team to provide a high-level of visitor services
Qualifications:
What level of education is required?
Some high school education plus 6 months of related experience. A High School Diploma is an asset but is not required.
What do I need to qualify for the job?
The minimum qualifications for these roles are:
- Experience using Microsoft Windows, Email and Internet
- ‘WHIMIS 2015’ Certificate
- Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR-Level C Certificate + AED
- Valid Class 5 license; unrestricted or GDL
- Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks and in extreme heat conditions for some parks.

- Different Park locations may have slightly different duties, depending on whether the park offers a campground (or many campgrounds), is day-use only, has a trail system, has a beach and lake or water access, and so on.
