Natural Region Description

The mountains, meadows and rivers of Kakwa Wildland Park are home to a diversity of plants and animals typical of the northern Rocky Mountains. Wildlife includes woodland caribou, elk, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, mule deer, white-tailed deer, grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, lynx, red fox, hoary marmot and numerous mountain bird species. Along the Kakwa River, Alberta's largest waterfall drops 30 metres into a spectacular canyon.
