A Trails Master Plan for Fish Creek Provincial Park was completed in 2022 and proposes a multi-use trail network accommodating a wide variety of users. The key objective is to expand on existing opportunities in the park in a manner that is safe, enjoyable, sustainable, and environmentally conscious. The highest priority is the Central Corridor Pathway – a 19 km pathway artery, running through the heart of the park and connecting day use areas to key points of interest. Portions of the Central Corridor Pathway are also segments of the Rotary-Mattamy Greenway and the Trans Canada Trail.
The Government of Alberta is proceeding with Phase 1 construction of the Central Corridor Pathway in August 2024. This includes the eastern segment of the pathway, between the Mallard Point Day Use Area up to and including, the Bow Bottom Trail SE pedestrian crossing. To improve public safety, Phase 1 will also include the following special projects:
To support construction activities, short term delays are expected along the eastern segment of the Central Corridor Pathway from August 2024 through late fall, with minor works in 2025. We recognize delays are inconvenient, however, they are necessary to ensure public safety and to support construction efficiency. Please follow all signage and do not cross construction barriers.
Temporary intermittent pathway closures may impact the following trails:
The Rotary Mattamy Greenway — Parks Foundation Calgary (parksfdn.com)
Trans Canada Trail | Explore the Map (tctrail.ca)
The overall Central Corridor Pathway project will occur in three phases of construction, with anticipated completion in 2028.

Alberta Transportation will be widening the westbound lane, replacing the eastbound lane and installing a new pedestrian bridge on Stoney Trail over the Bow River.
Work will be ongoing until the autumn of 2024 and impacted areas will include the pathway system connecting Rotary Nature Park to McKenzie Meadows and, on the west side of the Bow River, from Sikome Aquatic Facility to Lafarge Meadows.
Additionally, please note the current pedestrian overpass is permanently closed, to facilitate construction of a replacement.
Detours and closures for pedestrian, cyclist and river users will be ongoing during this project. Parking at Rotary Nature Park will also be intermittently closed. Please obey all signs, closures and detours.
