Where: Evan-Thomas Provincial Recreation Area , Spray Valley Provincial Park , Terrace Trail , Kovach Ski Trail (partial)

A closure has been put in place for the Terrace Trail from Galatea to the Kananaskis Village as well as a portion of the Kovach Ski Trail near the village due to bear activity in the area. 

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

• Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
• Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
• Keep your pet on a leash.
• Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible and know how to use it.
• Secure attractants like food, garbage, pet food and any scented items in hard sided vehicles or bear proof lockers.
• Learn more about bear safety.

Where: Bow Valley Provincial Park , Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park , Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park , Evan-Thomas Provincial Recreation Area , Larch Island (Canmore Nordic Centre PP)

Heavy rain is expected in the Bow Valley area, and river levels are already high, with some areas experiencing flooding along the Bow River. Visitors should be aware that flooding may occur and use extreme caution. Backcountry users need to be aware that rising water levels could impact navigation. Continue to check for updates to Advisories and local weather reports before heading out.

Bear warning for Kananaskis Golf Course due to multiple bears frequenting the area.

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

• Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
• Keep your pet on a leash.
• Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible and know how to use it.

Unattended garbage was accessed by wildlife. It is unknown what species accessed the garbage.

Visitors are reminded to use bear-proof bins to promptly dispose of garbage. Never leave food or garbage out.

If you come across wildlife, remember to:

• Give them plenty of space – at least 30 metres/100 feet (3 bus lengths).
• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Keep your pet on a leash.
• Do not feed wildlife.
