Alberta Parks

Special Events and Weddings

We are excited to discuss the possibility of hosting your event in an Alberta Park. Due to high season application volume you can expect a response within 5 business days to confirm receipt of your application.

Permit approvals and review of all necessary documentation can take 30 days and 30-90 days between the month of May to September. Application submission does not guarantee permit approval.

Applications are accepted up to one year in advance. Upon application submission you will receive an email confirming we have received your submission. One of our staff will then be in contact with you to discuss your specific event and requirements.

Please note:

  • Submitting an application does not provide approval. A permit is only issued after the terms and conditions specific to your event have been met.
  • Additional permits and fees may also be required, such as Alberta Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis .
  • Proof of general liability insurance (minimum $2,000,000 per occurrence) may be required. For group picnics, non-programmed school activities or activities by organized groups such as Girl Guides, Boy Scouts or Junior Forest Wardens the requirement for insurance may be waived.
  • Special event applicants in the Northwest region should be aware of the following site capacity limits. Our other regions may also have sites with limited capacity to hold large scale special events.

Group and other select commercial and recreational activities on Protected Areas may require an access permit or provincial authorization. Please visit Group activities on public land for more information.

Your Alberta Parks staff contact will be happy to discuss your event needs with you.

Please be advised that due to current capacity issues, Alberta Parks may not be able to accommodate all requests. Applicants are encouraged to consider alternate locations for their events.
