Natural Region Description

More than half of this natural area, located on the east shore of Buffalo Bay on the west end of Lesser Slave Lake, contains wetlands consisting predominantly of low marshy meadows, with some black spruce fens and willow swamps. A steep bank that rises 30 metres above the level of the bay is forested with a mix of tall white spruce and aspen with a rich shaded understory.
