Natural Region Boreal Forest - Central Mixedwood
Natural Region Description

Along with adjacent Lakeland Provincial Park, this recreation area preserves some of the highest-quality lakes, beaches and shorelines in Alberta. The full range of forest communities of the central mixedwood sub-region of the Boreal Forest Natural Region, including old growth spruce-fir stands, are found in the park and recreation area. Lakeland is home to more than 200 bird species and is noted for its wood warblers.
