Natural Region Description | This park preserves a lake and wetland complex southeast of Fort McMurray. The park contains Gipsy, Birch, Gordon and Shortt lakes. Birch Lake contains a diverse wetland habitat. Both Birch and Gipsy lakes are important American white pelican nesting sites. Gordon Lake is one of the most important waterfowl breeding, moulting and staging areas in the region. Double crested cormorants nest on an island in Birch Lake. |
