Details: Frequent bear activity has been noted along Valleyview Road from Elpoca Day Use Area to HWY 40 (South) near Little Highwood Day Use Area, including Valleyview Day Use Areas.
Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

Details:A small segment of pathway will be temporarily closed to accommodate the Elkwood Water Investigation in the month of October. Peter Lougheed Provincial Park will remain open during construction. While work is being completed, construction noise may be heard in nearby areas, and short distance detours can be expected. We recognize this may be inconvenient for visitors; however, it is necessary to ensure public safety.

Details: Please be aware that paving refurbishment is scheduled to occur at various locations throughout Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. The areas listed below will be affected, with an overall construction duration anticipated from late October to early November or until further notice. Please note that dates below are approximate (subject to change):

Where: Black Prince Cirque Interpretive Trail , Peter Lougheed Provincial Park
Details: The bridge just beyond the parking lot that provides access to this trail has been washed out.
The Hut is located at Pocaterra Day Use Area. The site is across from the Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail (Highway 742) access, 1.5 km north of the Peter Lougheed Park Visitor Information Centre. The Hut is heated, with flush toilets, a gas fireplace, picnic tables and ample parking space. Several cross-country ski trails begin here, providing access to an extensive network of cross-country ski trails in the park.
The hut is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
