Natural Region Description

The majority of this natural area is located on an old floodplain and is an excellent example of riparian habitat. From moist moss-covered spruce woods to dry open meadows, the area contains a wide range of vegetation communities. There are alder and willow shrubland thickets in wet depressions, abandoned channels, islands and river shoreline. In drier areas, aspen and balsam poplar forests flourish.
