Rate of Pay: $19.84 - $23.86 per hour
(Plus 11.2% in lieu of benefits and holidays)

Responsibilities

    If you enjoy working outside and are committed to caring for Alberta Park’s facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Team.  

    Beauvais Lake Provincial Park and Park Lake Provincial Parks are looking for motivated, hardworking Maintenance Service Workers for the summer operation season.  These individuals will be a part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day-to-day operations of Alberta Parks campground, day use areas, facilities and trail systems. 

    The majority of work for this position is completed outdoors and requires daily handling of chemicals, use of hand and power tools, and driving light duty trucks. This job can be physically demanding and also requires basic understanding of computer operations for minor administrative tasks such as time entry.

    As part of the Maintenance team, you strive to maintain Alberta Parks’ high standards to ensure quality customer service and safety is provided at all times. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Performing routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities including campgrounds, day use areas and trails systems
    • Lawn maintenance and completion of minor repairs of facilities
    • Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions, as needed
    • Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment
    • Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly
    • Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols.

Qualifications

Requirements

    Education:

    • Some high school education


    Additional requirements:

    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract
    • Current Standard First Aid certificate
    • Defensive Driving course
    • Availability to work weekend and holiday shifts

Assets

  • Experience working in custodial, landscaping or similar positions
  • Experience with hand and power tools’ good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and safety of small equipment
  • Chainsaw certification
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to follow OH&S procedures and protocols
  • Must have good physical stamina; capable of performing demanding physical tasks and lifting up to 25 kg


To be successful in this role, you also need excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.  You must be willing to show initiative to work independently or work in a team.
