Volunteer Profile - Campground Hosts Allan and Shirley

As the travel advice says... To find hidden gems when you travel, go where the locals go.  For the last 25 years, Allan and Shirley have lived in Lethbridge, Alberta - just an hour's drive away.   Writing-on-Stone / Áísínai'pi is where you will find them every summer.  Allan and Shirley were inspired by other Campground Hosts to volunteer here!

Camping and enjoying the land and river is a significant part of their lives.  Allan and Shirley can give you advice on everything from woodworking to wild flowers, crochet stitching to fishing.  Book recommendations, too!  Ask them about the rock art tours, the hiking trails, and the stories behind the hoodoos and Sweetgrass Hills.

Allan shares that "the most important tip we could give is to make your campsite reservation early.  Avoid the disappointment of not being able to get your favorite site or, worse yet, no site at all."

Drop by the Campground Host campsite (#47). Share stories and get info on how to best enjoy your visit to Writing-on-Stone!
