Located at prairie level, east of the main entrance road, the Writing-on-Stone Visitor Centre is an excellent first point of contact when visiting the park. Learn about events and activities happening at the park, and book a tour to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is also the departure point for guided tours and for accessing self-guided hiking trails, including a short accessible trail that overlooks the Milk River Valley.

This accessible facility provides a variety of services including an information desk, a gift shop, first aid station, and interpretive displays. The building and display design is inspired by traditional Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot) cultural elements and houses a wealth of information related to the history and significance of our site.

Toilets are located on the exterior of the building and there is a pet watering station nearby. There is also a bike rack for those traveling by two wheels. For oversize vehicles and travel trailer parking, an overflow parking lot is located to the east of the main parking area. There are also accessible picnic tables with sunshade arbours near the main parking lot.

From the Visitor Centre you can view the wide Milk River Valley to the south where the meandering Milk River runs through. Enjoy views of the Hoodoo field, with wide prairie landscapes on all sides.
