Police Outpost Provincial Park

Alberta Parks

Information & Facilities

Information: 1-877-537-2757

The character of this park stems from its history as the site of a late 1800’s Northwest Mounted Police Outpost. Active from 1891-1896, officers guarded the border to prevent the spread of whiskey smuggling. Now one of Alberta’s southernmost parks, mountains meet prairies to build an incredibly rich ecosystem you can explore while wandering the trails, paddling the lake or relaxing by a campfire at night. Cast a line and let the hours slip by as you fish from your boat, canoe, or explore a quiet stretch of the shoreline. You’ll find a range of local wildlife that call the rolling hills their home, including swans, loons, beavers, moose, and bears. A favourite spot for all ages, this rural retreat invites you to slow down and immerse yourself.
