    What would you do if you got caught in a rain, hail or snow storm while hiking, biking or fishing? Learn how to construct an A-frame and tripod shelter and what to carry in your backpack to build an emergency shelter.

    Shelter building, navigating with a compass, and fire starting are some of the skills you will learn to better prepare for your Castle adventure and how to survive in the wilderness. All supplies are provided. Bring water, sun and bug protection and wear closed toed shoes or boots. We will be hiking approximately 1km to the site.

    Where:   Beaver Mines Lake Campground, Gladstone Creek Trailhead (just past Lakeview Day Use, near loop D)  Gladstone Creek Day Use

  • Mountain Bike Basics - Saturdays in August

    • Mountain Biking Basics at Castle Provincial Park

      Join Karey (Sweet Riders of Crowsnest Pass) and Michelle (Alberta Parks), both certified mountain bike instructors, to learn new or improve your mountain bike skills. Plus gain tips for a safe ride in the beautiful mountains of Castle Provincial Park.

      Time will be spent on reviewing and practicing skills and drills and if time allows we will do a short trail ride.

      All participants must be able to confidently ride a two-wheeled bike with good balance.

      Bring your own bike and helmet OR rent one from us for $10.

      SATURDAYS - August 4, 11, 18 and September 1.

      Look for us at Huckleberry Fest at Castle Mountain Resort on Sat. August 25th

      COYOTES   AGES 4-6           2pm-2:45pm

      WOLVES    AGES 7-10          3pm-4pm

      COUGARS  AGES 11-14        4pm-5pm

      Due to instructor: student ratios of 1:6, there is a maximum capacity of 12 children per session. Participants will be able to bike with us on a first-come, first-served basis.

      $10 per child (cash or cheque only)

      $10 for bicycle and helmet rental (cash or cheque only)

    Castle Communicators are pleased to greet visitors with information on: trails, recreation opportunities, wildlife safety, natural and cultural history, and share some "Wild Wisdom".  Pick up 2018 maps, firewood permits, designated camping permits and more.  Plan to stop for a short time, take part in the Wild Wisdom Guided Hike, and/or enjoy a break and chat with our staff. 

    Outdoor Visitor Information Center highway 774 @ Syncline South parking lot and warming hut until the paving project begins. Once paving starts, we will be relocating to the intersection of Highway 774 and Castle River Bridge road. Look for the signs.
