There are about 15 km of cross-country ski trails groomed for classical style skiing.
The trails are not patrolled. Be prepared for emergencies.
Please carry your cell phone and an emergency kit containing an extra ski tip, cord, wire, pliers, a pocket knife, screw driver and screws.
Cross-country guidelines: Ski on the right. Pass on the left. Step off the trail to the right when stopping. Downhill traffic has the right of way. Use caution when approaching steep slopes and bridges.
A shelter with a wood stove is available in the day use area.
Ice Fishing
Moonshine Lake is stocked with rainbow trout, brown, and tiger trout.
The lake is aerated so stay well back from open water. Obey the posted caution signs surrounding the aerator and keep out of the fenced perimeter
Open fires and vehicle use are not permitted on the ice.
Ice Skating
The rink is in need of repairs and upgrades. For the 2019-20 winter season there will not be a skating rink. Please contact the area office with your concerns or comments 780-538-5350.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoers are welcome to explore the park's open and forested areas.
There are no formal snowshoeing trails. Please do not snowshoe on cross-country ski trails.
Snowmobiling not permitted
Snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and off-highway vehicles (OHVs) not permitted.
Winter Safety Tips & Rules
Frostbite and hypothermia are real dangers in winter. Be prepared before you head outside.
Dress in layers and wear a hat. Carry extra socks and a sweater.
Keep your dog on a leash and off the ski track.
Obey all signs.
Use the firepits and stoves provided at shelters and picnic areas.
Pack out all your garbage and leave no trace of your passing.
Alcohol is not permitted.
