Sulphur Gates Campground is located in Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area, 5 km north and 7 km west of Grande Cache off Hwy. 40. There are 22 equestrian campsites with corrals, and 2 equestrian day use sites. A short distance down the road there are 15 regular campsites suitable for tents or smaller RV's. From the parking lot at the campground, a short trail leads to lookout platforms with spectacular views of the Sulphur River canyon and the Smoky River.

  • Campsites are first come, first serve; self registration only.
  • Road is NOT maintain in winter.
  • Winter camping in tenting sites 1-11 and equestrian sites 21 and 22 only. All other campsites are closed in winter.

  • There are 22 equestrian overnight campsites, and 2 day-use sites.
  • Additional fee of $4.00/night/horse; 1 on-site water trough provided for horses.
Firewood
  • Firewood alert! Firewood not available. Help stop the spread of forest pests, Dutch elm disease and emerald ash borer.  Plan to buy firewood locally, burn on site, never bring home.
Water

Although Alberta Parks strives to maintain water quality, at this particular site we recommend you bring your own drinking water.
