Strachan Campground

Information: (403) 845-8349 Rocky District Office
Directions

Whether you want to plan ahead or be spontaneous, Strachan Campground has a campsite to suit your needs. All sites are unserviced, and the campground is fully reservable.  Be sure to pre-book your spot online or through the reservation centre as self-registration not available at this time.

The treed campground provides some privacy, and many of the sites are large enough to accommodate trailers and RVs. While there is no permit booth on site, the campground is only 30km southwest of Rocky Mountain House, which means you have access to any amenities you might need during your stay.

The area around Strachan Campground is popular for off-highway vehicles, and there are many trails and informal staging areas outside the campground. If you plan to bring your off-highway vehicle, please note that offloading or use within the campground is prohibited.

Firewood
  • Firewood alert! Firewood not available. Help stop the spread of forest pests, Dutch elm disease and emerald ash borer.  Plan to buy firewood locally, burn on site, never bring home.
Water

Recent changes to the recreation area regulation under the Public Health Act have affected provision of drinking water in this provincial campground – we cannot absolutely guarantee that water from hand pumps is free of pathogens because of the risk of ground water contamination. As a result, Alberta Parks recommends that you bring your own drinking water.
