This large campground is found in Rock Lake Provincial Park. It is 7 km west of Hinton on Hwy. 16, 40 km northwest on Hwy. 40 and 35 km west on a gravel access road. Here there are a variety of well-spaced sites with trees for privacy. Enjoy awe-inspiring views of Alberta's Northern Rockies while fishing, boating, mountain biking or hiking. Staging areas for the Wildland and Willmore Wilderness Park are accessible here, including hitching rails and corrals for equestrian users.

  • Reservations can be made by calling 780-865-2154 on Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Reservation fee is non-refundable.
  • Unreserved sites are available on a First Come-First Served basis.

Amenities

Equestrian
  • Parking is available at the Willmore Staging Area.
  • This campground has 4 large equestrian sites with corrals (by reservation only), and 14 smaller equestrian sites with 1 corral, tie stalls and pens (these are First Come-First Served basis).  The cost is $4.00/night/horse.
  • Equestrian users pay an additional $4.00/night/horse.

 

Water

Water is available from a hand pump in some areas. Although Alberta Parks strives to maintain water quality, we recommend that you bring your own drinking water.
