Kootenay Plains Provincial Recreation Area offers a unique group camping experience, often revisited as a long-standing tradition. The overall site is arranged in an oval shape featuring eight distinct group sites.
Cavalcade Group Area 8 provides a private option that can accommodate a maximum of 20 camping units. The site features a mix of gravel and grass, a fire pit, a nearby non-potable water pump, and has access to a vault toilet. Note that there is no cook shelter on this site, and it is close to Highway 11 which may result in some road noise.
Most notably, the location provides stunning, expansive vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges, ensuring a truly memorable outdoor experience.
Please ensure you bring firewood, drinking water, and a map of the area if you plan to visit as no services are available, and there is no cell phone reception. Firewood purchases can be organized with the facility operator with proper notice ahead of your reservation.
Please bring your own water. Water from the hand pump/tap is not safe for consumption or use and should only be used to put out fires.
