Construction Closure - Main Group Site

    Effective Date: May 1, 2026 - Until Further Notice

    Where: Main Group Use

    Details: Please be advised that necessary construction of the roadway into the Main Group Use Area at Brazeau Reservoir PRA is scheduled to occur from May to Summer 2026.

    Heavy equipment and a construction crew will be on site. The Government of Alberta is committed to ensuring all visitors have a safe experience in our parks, and all visitors are prohibited from going beyond the barriers set in place. 

    Visitors will not be able to reserve or access the Main Group Use Area during the time of the closure. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause to your experience.

    Follow the direction of all signage and personnel in the area and stay out of active construction zones.

Reservoir Loops is located in the Brazeau Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area, about 60 km southwest of Drayton Valley on Hwy. 620. There are over 50 campsites, including powered and unserviced sites. Here you can fish, canoe or sail on the reservoir, or watch birds and other wildlife on the informal trails. OHVs are not permitted in the campground.

Firewood is available for sale.

Water

Recent changes to the recreation area regulation under the Public Health Act have affected provision of drinking water in this campground – we cannot absolutely guarantee that water from hand pumps is free of pathogens because of the risk of ground water contamination. As a result, Alberta Parks recommends that you bring your own drinking water.
