Whether you’re stopping in for the day or settling in for the night, Island Lake Provincial Recreation Area is the perfect base location, offering easy access to nearby lakes, rivers, and hiking trails.

The rustic campground features beautiful views of both the surrounding mountains and the lake and is best suited for RVs. Island Lake is an ideal stopping point for travelers exploring the stunning Crowsnest Pass area.

  • Permitted activities may vary within a park. Please confirm details with park staff.
    • OHV riding: There are informal trails in the vicinity. OHV off-loading within the campground and travel to trails from campsites (on access roads) is permitted (for registered campers only).
    • Snowmobiling: Snowmobiling is only permitted to access the lake and is not allowed elsewhere in the recreation area. Snowmobile staging available is available from the boat launch parking lot.
    • Ice Safety: Check Winter Safety and Lifesaving Society Ice Safety for tips.
