  • Bear Warning - Bears are Awake

    Effective:  March 5, 2021

      Bears are coming out of hibernation and will be in the area.  In springtime, bears are looking for fresh green forage and other food.  Please enjoy your walk following proper bear country safety procedures. 

    Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in the South Region at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

    • Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
    • Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
    • Keep your pet on a leash.
    • Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible, and know how to use bear spray.

  • Closure - Campground Closed for Fall/Winter Camping

    Effective:  October 19, 2020

      There will be no fall/winter camping in 2020/2021 at Chain Lakes.  Day use area access remains open.
