  • Construction Closure - Cross Lake Provincial Park Day Use, Boat Launch and sewage Dump Station

    Effective:  September 25, 2023

      To enable necessary upgrades to Day use, Boat Launch and Dump station facilities at Cross Lake Provincial Park, these areas will be closed and restricted to public use from September 25th, 2023 until October 15th 2023. The closure will enable the upgrades to be completed in a timely fashion. Thank-you for your co-operation.  

  • Blue-Green Algae - Cyanobacterial Bloom

    Effective:  June 20, 2023

      Please be advised that a Cyanobacterial (Blue-Green Algal) Bloom Advisory has been issued for Steele (Cross) Lake, located in Cross Lake Provincial Park.

    General precautions
    • Avoid all contact with blue green algae blooms. If contact occurs, wash with tap water ASAP.
    • Do not swim or wade in any areas where blue-green algae is visable.
    • Do not allow your pets to swim or wade in these areas or to eat fish or fish trimmings from the lake.
    • Consider limiting human consumption of fish from the lake.

    Blue-green algae bloom advisories are issued and rescinded by Alberta Health Services. Typically, advisories are lifted in late autumn, when water temperatures are so cool that blue green algae growth is no longer supported.
