Park Closed

  • Due to wildfire damage, Elk River Provincial Recreation Area is closed until further notice.

Elk River Campground is found in Elk River Provincial Recreation Area, 17 km southwest of Lodgepole on Hwy. 620 and 47 km west on Elk River Road. A small campground with large, well spaced sites nestled in a mixed forest. Some sites have a view of the river. There is nearby access to OHV and horse trails, though they are not permitted inside the recreation area.

  • Reservations can be made from Feb 3 – Oct 15 by calling 780-865-2154 on Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • The reservation fee is non-refundable

No charge firewood available at campground.

Water

Recent changes to the recreation area regulation under the Public Health Act have affected provision of drinking water in this campground – we cannot absolutely guarantee that water from hand pumps is free of pathogens because of the risk of ground water contamination. As a result, Alberta Parks recommends that you bring your own drinking water.
