Fee Guidelines

    The range for fees in Alberta's provincial parks is set through directive by the Department head.

    • Each campground's fees are based on market demand and the services available at that site (within the approved range).
    • Fees are inclusive of the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) unless otherwise stated.
    • There are no fees for day use in provincial parks, however a vehicle parking pass is required for vehicles parked at provincial parks and public land sites in Kananaskis Country and the Bow Valley Corridor.

    The Camping Fee Discount for Alberta Seniors is applicable at select individual front country campgrounds.

    Camping Fees

    Service Fee
    Basic Campsites

    $8 - $31/night (the currently approved fee cap within the overall fee range set through the Provincial Parks Fees order) based upon market conditions, plus additional service fees (see below).

    Backcountry Camping in Designated Backcountry Campgrounds $12/person/night
    (Children under 16 years are free but still require a permit.)

    Base rate of $60-$150/night plus a per night fee of up to the regular overnight camping fee for the park where the group camping is located multiplied by the number of camping units (5 or 10 units minimum, depending on the site) for the entire reserved stay.

    Group Campgrounds NOT on Shop.AlbertaParks.ca ("Phone-in Only")

    Base rate of $60-$150/night plus a per night fee of up to the regular overnight camping fee for the park where the group camping is located multiplied by the number of camping units (5 or 10 units minimum, depending on the site) for the first night only.

    Group Day Use Areas $50 - $88/day
    Comfort Camping $100-$250 (note, where services are offered, all Comfort Camping fees are inclusive of additional service fees such as water, sewer, shower, and firewood).

    Changes to campsite reservations are $10/change; no charge for name/address changes.
    'Phone-In' Campsite Reservation Service and Group Use Non-refundable $12 reservation fee plus a deposit equal to the first night's camping fee
    Reservation amendments = $5/amendment
    Group Day Use Non-refundable $12 reservation fee plus a deposit equal to the first day's fee

    Vehicle Parking Pass

    • Yearly pass - $90 (registers up to 2 vehicles)
    Commercial Vehicle – 15 people or less • Day pass - $22.50
    • Yearly pass - $135

    Commercial Vehicle – more than 15 people • Day pass - $30
    • Yearly pass - $180
    Example: large group transport, coach buses

    1. These fees apply to vehicles parked at provincial parks and public land sites in Kananaskis Country and the Bow Valley Corridor.

    Interpretive and Educational Program Fees

    Custom programming for a group or organization $50 - $500/hour (plus additional charges for meals, materials, supplies, admission fees to other sites, guest speakers)

    Educational Programs Delivered by Alberta Parks

    1. These fees apply to educational programming developed and delivered by Alberta Parks staff within a park.
    2. Fee covers instructional time only. Additional expenses may include transportation, accommodation, food, guest presenters, materials and supplies.
    3. Maximuum class or group size is 30 students/participants.

    Educational Programs Delivered by Educators in Parks

    Notes

    1. These fees apply when teachers or community educators deliver Alberta Parks' educational programs in a park and request services like: indoor facilities, limited personal services such as orientation or parent volunteer instruction, or teacher in-service.
    2. Maximum class or group size is 30 students/participants.

    Outreach Educational Programs

    Note These fees apply when programming is delivered by Alberta Parks staff in a non-park location.

    Educational Videoconferencing Programs

    Note These fees apply for the presentation of interactive educational video or online broadcasts to formal and community groups provincially, nationally and internationally.

    Learning & Experiential Programming

    Notes

    1. These fees apply for programming that imparts new knowledge and/or skills related to outdoor recreation, natural history and/or cultural history. Programs can range in length from hours to multiple days, and may involve community partners in delivery.
    2. A $5 discount may be applied for persons 7 - 17 years.
    3. Fees only cover instructional staff time. Additional expenses may include transportation, accommodation, food, guest presenters, materials and supplies.

    Professional Development for Educators

    1. These fees apply when Alberta Parks staff deliver workshops in a park and/or community for teachers/community educators on areas like: safety considerations; park features; role of parks; Alberta curriculum connections; Visitor Services opportunities, techniques and approaches to learning in parks.
    2. Expenses may include transportation, accommodation, food, guest presenters, materials and supplies.
