Syncline Trail Network

Enjoy a variety of year-round activities on over 20 km of interconnected trails. Explore through the lush montane forest, rolling meadows and along the banks of the West Castle River. As of March 1, 2022 the Winter Syncline Trail Network is being groomed and track set, check trail status and instant grooming updates on the Nordic Alberta sponsored live Nordic Trails Grooming Report.

The Syncline Trails network were developed for the 1975 Canada Winter games. The Syncline Castle Trail Association, SCaT has provided support since 2002 to enhance the trail network.  Please visit the SCaT website to learn more.  The Syncline Trail Network is a fun and easy set of trails with spectacular views and wildflowers for summer hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians.  The Equestrian Campground will open June 1, 2022, and was created through a partnership with the Alberta Equestrian Federation.

There are seasonal dates for recreational users at the Syncline Trail Network:

  • Equestrian, hiker and mountain bike users are welcome May 1 - November 30.
  • Nordic skier, hiker/snowshoe users (side of the trails only) are welcome December 1 - April 30.
