Advisories

  • Gregoire Lake Campground and Day Use Area closed

      August 26, 2019

      • Due to severe winds, numerous trees were blown down in the park.
      • To ensure public safety, Gregoire Lake Campground and Gregoire Lake Day Use area are closed for the remainder of the 2019 season.
      • Anzac Day Use area and the Southshore Day Use area boat launch are open.
      • Hangingstone Provincial Recreation Area campground, located 35 km south of Fort McMurray on Hwy 63 is open for campers.

  • Bear Warning - Gregoire Lake PP

      July 24, 2019

      • Multiple black bears have been seen throughout Gregoire Lake Provincial Park
      • Supervise young children at all times and keep your pets on leash.
      • It is crucial that campsites are kept clean and that all items that might attract a bear are stored properly

    Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in the Northeast Region at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

    • Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
    • Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
    • Keep your pet on a leash.
    • Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible, and know how to use bear spray.

  • Bear Warning - Gregoire Lake Provincial Park

      • The trails between the campground and the day use area are closed until further notice due to bear activity in the area.

    Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in the Northeast Region at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:
