Gipsy Lake Wildland Provincial Park

Alberta Parks

Random Backcountry Camping

Information: 780-743-7437
Due to the remote nature of these campgrounds, cleaning and sanitizing of shared surfaces is infrequent and users should be ready to sanitize high-touch surfaces upon their arrival. Be prepared with your own hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Note that cleaning supplies may be wildlife attractants, and should be stored in your food locker and away from your tent. When campgrounds are open and where it is feasible, outhouses will be open. Please help to limit the spread of COVID-19 by maintaining physical distancing from other campers.

Gipsy Lake Wildland Provincial Park  is located approximately 19 km south of Fort McMurray on Hwy. 63, 51 km southeast on Hwy. 881 and 35 km east on a seasonal Winter Rd. 956, with the remainder 20 km travelled by 4-wheel drive and snowmobile only (on designated trails during frozen ground conditions only). Summer access is fly-in only. Landing of aircraft in the park requires authorization from Alberta Parks. This location has no designated campsite, please be respectful with random camping. Gordon Lake is one of the most important waterfowl breeding, moulting and staging areas in the region.
