        • Birding: Mixed stands of poplar, spruce and pine provide habitat for white-throated sparrows, ruffed grouse and several warbler species. Osprey and bald eagles forage along the shoreline and on the lake.  Great blue herons and osprey nest around the lake.  In winter, bohemian waxwings, evening and pine grosbeaks and white-winged crossbills feed on fruit-bearing trees and shrubs.
        • Cross-country skiing: 7 km ungroomed trails
        • Fishing: Effective 2018 – Steele Lake (Cross) has re-opened for sportfishing. Please consult the Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Regulations for full details.
        • Power boating: Vessels are subject to a 12 km/h speed limit in posted areas.
