Richardson River Dunes Wildland Provincial Park is accessible by a highway that become a backcountry road 170km north of Fort McMurray on Hwy. 63. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended year-round, as road conditions may vary.  For fly-in access and landing aircraft in the park requires authorization from Alberta Parks. OHV and snowmobile riding is permitted pm designated OHV trail only. The parking area adjacent to the trail provides "walk-in only" access to Athabasca Dunes Ecological Reserve. This location has no designated campsite, please be respectful with random camping. Richardson River Dunes Wildland Park, located south of Lake Athabasca, is part of the largest sand dune complex in Canada.
