Flood recovery is ongoing in Kananaskis. Some trails, day use areas and backcountry campgrounds are impacted. Check Advisories before you travel.
While it may be on the smaller side, this day use area is well worth the visit. In the warmer months enjoy the sandy beach and take a swim in the lake. A boat launch provides lake access where visitors can paddle through Rainbow Lake’s calm waters on a kayak or canoe, glide across the water surface on skis, or try your luck at reeling in pike, walleye, or burbot. The lake can also be accessed at one of three docks, perfect for swimming and fishing from.
The beach is accessible by a long staircase or a gravel road. A vault toilet is available in the campground at the top of the hill leading to the beach.
