Citizen Science in the Boreal Forest: Marten Mountain Plant Blitz

Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park is home to some incredibly diverse landscapes. Join Boreal Centre Educator Braidi & Parks Interpreter Alisa to explore Marten Mountain, the easternmost foothills extant in Alberta, and discover the special plants and animals that call this unique boreal ecosystem home.

  • This program is brought to you by the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory Society, the Lesser Slave Forest Education Society, and Alberta Parks.
  • We will not be going down into Lily Lake, rather we will be exploring the trails at the top of Marten Mountain.
  • Please download the iNaturalist App and make an account prior to joining us.
  • Pre-registration is required.
  • Be prepared for the weather!  Bring a jacket, hat, good footwear, sun screen and mosquito spray. 
  • Bring a water bottle and snacks.
