Students become biologists while hiking one of Kananaskis Country's interpretive trails. They observe, record and evaluate the abiotic factors that affect plant growth in forest and grassland ecosystems. Students describe and classify common plants and recognize that variations in growing conditions affect plant growth. They also gain an understanding of their importance in the natural environment. Students may engage in a stewardship project of pulling invasive plants.
